weekend wrapup – thoughts on future projects

I'd really rather be writing about something other than how much I need to improve the Website and the new Blog. I guess there's nothing stopping me from teaching myself how to improve the commercial traffic through the site but, as I was telling Rocco today at a lovely waterside lunch at the Lobster Pot in Bristol, where we went after visiting the Christmas Bear, where I'm working part-time for the season (yes, that would be less than a month now).

Though it was rainy, we drove around and looked at houses and neighborhoods in EP, Bristol, Warren, and Barrington. Rocco says there are often postings for jobs at St Ann's Hosp, which would be reasonably close for commute from Bristol. Roy and Dennis were certainly trying their best to convince us how nice Bristol is; I'm sure they'd love for us to settle there.

I was puzzling over with Rocco what my next projects might entail and speculating about moving into voice or radio work, something I've always wanted to do (I took radio classes in high school, in fact, where we had a local broadcast station: WOPR-AM).

So I'd love to do something like offer streaming downloads of stories and commentary but I feel like I should first get the site to start paying for itself. I feel like I should be smart enough to figure out how to do that. Here are the daily avg stats for November to date: hits 4813; files 4265; pages 484; visits 168. I know it's not huge but it's respectable.

I've focused mostly on providing editorial content for the site, and there's plenty more I can add (especially if I can create an offsite link with erotica) but temporary money concerns make me think that I should work on increasing the site's basic coop / clickthrough traffic. I've started a bunch of things but it's been very happenstance. I need to approach some of my vendor friends and acquaintances and several other online stores with the idea of formalizing clickthru purchase deals.

I feel conflicted between the urge to take on these projects and to just spend time writing. I feel like I've got a couple more good books in me, just waiting for me to pick up their scent again and track the concept to the source.

I need to solidly finish up all the projects to date before looking at any new ones. It's really time for a purge of other stuff as well in preparation of the task of moving.

Non seq: I've noticed that there is a real kinestetic shift in my posture from editing or Webwork and the way I hold myself when I'm writing expositorily, why, such as like right now. Less crunchty and passive.
