In the jaw-dropping new issue of Bear magazine, Dan Hunt, award-winning director/producer of last year’s Logo feature documentary, Bear Run, answers my questions about his film following several men, including a transbear, participating in several Bear Runs. Gorgeous full-page picture of Dan, looking so damn incredibly handsome sitting with his hairy arms resting on a red chair, titled “See Bear Sit,” which runs into the text of the 2-page spread, headlined “See Bear Run.”

A longer version of the interview will likely be run in the second edition of Bears on Bears.

I was indeed watching the bear (Dan) sitting during his photo session in a Manhattan penthouse, all the while a porn shoot going on upstairs, stills of which (Dru Bruin & Johnny Mack models) are also in Bear #66. The photog of the glowing portrait of Dan is Wolfe Thompson, the brilliant, magnificently bearded publisher of the resurrected Bear magazine, who also got shots of me sitting in Dan’s lap (not run with the piece). Dan, Wolfe, and I, as well as Wolfe’s equally butch-bearded partner, Teddy, met while in NYC for its premiere parties for the newly resurrected Bear magazine, including appearances by Bear issue 65 coverman and Bears on Bears interviewee, Jack Radcliffe.

I offered this endorsement to Dan, who runs it on his page:

BEAR RUN is the first documentary to portray the community of gay and bisexual Bears from the inside out, and it will undoubtedly remain the definitive film on the subject for quite some time. Director Dan Hunt has opened a world of tough and tender men who struggle with identity and body issues to find acceptance within mainstream and GLBTQ societies, and the moving story of their journeys is a triumph that indeed celebrates the Bear community in all its furry glory.

I’m glad to say that our pals at TLA Releasing are also now carrying DVDs of BEAR RUN. Bears and bearlovers should really get it and watch it, because you’ll probably see somebear you know and love.
