AmBear closing letter

I've been waiting to post this until my copy of #70 got here, but it's not arrived. I've decided to continue posting Bear Stew to my Website for now – details soon, we hope. Thanks to everyone who has offered encouragement in view of American Bear closing up shop. I've communicated some of it to Tim, but if you appreciate his contribution to the bear community, why not drop him a line at ?
Here's the text of the letter that accompanied the final issues of American Bear and American Grizzly:

Farewell…
Sadly, we are unable to continue print publication of our magazines
American Bear and American Grizzly due to production costs, declining
subscriptions and retail sales. Issue #70 of American Bear and #33 of
Grizzly are the last issues we will publish. Although I expressed our
commitment to these products in Issue #70 (which was written back in
September before it was going to press), it has recently become apparent we
can no longer afford to stay in print publication.
Some of our subscribers are still due issues. It is not financially
possible for us to make a monetary refund on open subscriptions. However, we
are considering a more extensive web-based version of our magazines. If you
have web access, please go to the following link to check out what the
online version of our magazines would entail.
[www.amabear.com/amabearonline.htm] If we do go this route, all current
subscribers will be given free access to the online version.
If we do not go to an on-line magazine or you do not have web access, we
do want to offer some kind of refund by way of existing merchandise (back
issues, caps or t-shirts) to those who have 2 or more issues left on their
subscription. If you are unsure how many issues you have left on your
subscription – the number in front of your name on the mailing envelope is
the last issue of your subscription. If you do not have web access or you
would prefer not to have access to an on-line magazine, then please opt for
the ³fulfillment² program below. If you would like to transfer your
subscription to an on-line magazine check that box. (If we do not go to an
on-line magazine and you checked the on-line subscription box, you will be
notified by email and offered the ³fulfillment² program.)
Please mail this form to us or preferably, email us
with the words ³Fulfillment Program² or
³Online Subscription² in the subject line depending on which option you
prefer. Include the following information in your email.
Name, Address, City/State, Zip as it appears on your subscription and your
email address.
If you opt for the fulfillment program we will contact you regarding what
merchandise or back issues you would like to receive. You can read more
about this program at www.amabear.com/fulfillment.htm
This offer is good through February 15th, 2006.
Thank you for your support of our work these past 12 years.
