NYTimes article on bisexuality

Clearly I'm late out of the gate with this one, as usual these days. But here goes.

The article doesn't really allow that research only examines physiological response within a controlled environment, and that actual sexual response doesn't operate under those rarified conditions. Further, despite any research indications to the contrary, bisexuals have the right to identify as bisexuals. So it doesn't really present a fully wholesome or healthy bisexuality, and discounts those whose inner experience tells them they are bi.

I found it a mostly balanced and nuanced look at contemporary physiological and psychological research on bisexuality, and that it laid out the issues and info about the matter in a way that will generate interest in the topic. Its conclusion is indeed that more investigation and discussion are needed: “There's a whole lot of movement and flexibility,” Dr. Diamond added. “The fact is, we have very little research in this area, and a lot to learn.”

This comes at a great time for the BI MEN book – just as Kinsey is being released on home DVD.

Straight, Gay or Lying? Bisexuality Revisited
By BENEDICT CAREY

Some people are attracted to women; some are attracted to men. And some, if Sigmund Freud, Dr. Alfred Kinsey and millions of self-described bisexuals are to be believed, are drawn to both sexes.
But a new study casts doubt on whether true bisexuality exists, at least in men.
