preNOLA

Busy trying to align my duckies before setting off Saturday morn for Nawlins.

Set up a reading for the gay bookstore there – goes by FAB – Faubourg Marigny Arts & Books. Such a creative acronym – but not as fabulous as Bears Ocean State. I imagine the owner Otis introducing us in his Southern accent, “Welkum t' FAAAAAB!” [details: http://www.suresha.com/events/events.php ]

I'll be reading from the story I wrote with Adam – though he may not be in town. It requires three voices, so I'll end up doing them myself, which will require some practice. Paul said he'd read the Intro and then talk about Saints & Sinners – which is great because we can aactually use that as a kind of organizing opportunity for S&S. http://www.noaidstaskforce.org/development/events/literary/sas/ . Then the usual questions from the audience, followed by the usual signing et shmoozing, and a whiny & cheesy repast.

But the reading event should be nice, and the stay otherwise restful. Ha. I know myself better than to imagine I'll avoid restlessness. It's not easy when you're with a new boyfriend who wants to be with you all the time. Unless you tell him to run out to fetch a couple Beignets and jump ship while he's out. But who knows, maybe I'll surprise myself and so will Rocco. At least he tells me I can tell him when I need space, but the tendency is to want to just go along together and do things together rather than make separate plans, which requires more work and a stronger bond of security between two persons. But the strength of trust is tested in its flexibility, its ability to act independently without words.
