Univ. of Rhode Island GLBTIQA Symposium

Hiya – hope all's well with all.
I extend a special invitation to folks in New England and NY to attend the excellent
gay/lesbian/bi/trans/etc academic event coming up this Thursday-Saturday at URI – Kingston. It's three days of really interesting talks and presentations, and I hope everyone can make part or all of this terrific annual FREE event.
Headlining will be a talk at 7pm Thursday by Providence mayor David
Cicilline, who spoke at last year's Mr Bear RI contest just the week after he
took office. Personally I consider Mayor David a clean-shaven bear. Woof!
In any case, he's an excellent public speaker and I really look forward to
seeing him speak.
I'll be speaking on Friday afternoon about bear communities, including my
experiences back from the late 1980s Bear magazine/Lone Star bear crowd
in SF, through my big bear book tour of 2002, and up to the great and
wonderful Bears of Ocean State! Fun visuals and stories – certainly of interest
to bears who feel they belong to this or any bear community.
Friday evening features the bear-inclusive Gay Men's Chorus! I'll also be
participating in the bisexual panel on Saturday.
Please look at the schedule below and support the URI Symposium by
attending. Remember, it's free, you can come to any or all of the events,
although you need to register by filling out a brief form. Well worth the effort!
Pass the word. Thanks, and see you there!

allbest, with bearhugs,
Ron
