The first cut is the deepest

[This was the first blog posted to Ron’s LiveJournal.]

Sadgurunath Maharaj ki Jai!

Pardon me, my non-Hindi-speaking friends, for so abruptly yelling out something in Sanskrit right off the bat.

That expression is kind of an ashram cheer, meaning “Hail to the True Teacher [who shows us the inner Self]”, and is often used at the onset of new ventures to attract auspicious energy.

Grrreetings, everyone!

Two years have passed since Seumas (beardoc) invited me to join LiveJournal, and today I’m just now getting around to downloading xJournal and making my first blog entry.

I’ve avoided starting here because it takes enough energy to write longhand in my personal hardbound journal: if I have a bit of time, I just like the feel of putting pen to paper. I find it soothing, whereas spending time on the computer I find somewhat disagreeable. Why? For one, I can’t take my iMac outside. Sure I have an old iBook, but I’m unwilling (so far) to take the time required to upgrade and download and set up that whole process in order to transfer keystrokes to LJ. Blechhh. I find that writing out my personal experiences longhand, however, is gratifying in many ways – it feels good for the soul. Everyone should keep a journal, I believe, writing daily in the same way everyone bathes and eats every day. I also believe one should meditate every day. In any case, we’ll see how much I can accomplish in both formats.

The reason I wanted to start this today and am making time to do so is because I just began radiation treatments to eliminate any rogue cancer cells from the area (left parotid) of where I had a tumor removed last month. I felt this might prove to be a good way to keep folks updated as to my progress. At this point (my second treatment was this morning) most of the dramatic and traumatic have passed, I think, but I’ll try to fill in some of that if folks are interested in the gory details. :@}

I look forward to finding a regular routine as the treatments proceed, 5x/week, until mid January, including a daily schedule of meditation, yoga/stretching/exercise, attention to diet, good sleep, and plenty of interesting work projects. And I look forward to including you in that process.

allbest, with bearhugs,
Ron
