Marriage Equality Rally in Providence

Grrreetings, everyone!

Rally and Hearings at the RI State House
5:00 pm, Tuesday, April 12, 2005

THIS IS THE MOMENT to stand up and speak out for our civil rights as GLBTQ
citizens who deserve the same civil protections as all Americans! Bring your
lover(s), your friends, your kids, your grandkids, your exes, your bosses!

If you've ever dreamed of one day having the chance to come out and declare that
your love and family is as valid as any other American, that day has come, my furry
friends! And yes, just showing up and being counted counts.

I intend to add a brief testimony to the public record at the hearing. Please come to
the Rotunda in the Providence State House around 4:30pm if you want to sign up to
add your voice! (And cheer loudly!)

Statewide Marriage Equality Rally in Providence!

This promises to be the biggest and loudest rally yet for marriage equality, right here at home in Rhode Island. Bring your family and friends to the RI State House rotunda by 5 pm, April 12, 2005. Take public transportation, or come early to find parking if you need to bring your car.
Bring bright signs in support of marriage equality. Bring your kids. Bring your parents. Bring your neighbors. Bring everyone you can! Together, we can let our legislators know that we need marriage equality in Rhode Island!

02920, Tel: (401) 463-5368. If you'd like to testify, you can come on the hearing
night and sign up. You can also contact us and we'll submit your name and make
sure you have the information about the hearings.
Come and let your voices be heard for marriage equality!
The hearing in front of the RI Senate Judiciary Committee will take place after April
24.

Ron Jackson Suresha is an editor, anthologist, and writer. He is considered an authority on emergent queer masculinities, in particular the subcultures of gay and bi male Bears and of male bisexuality. For Ron's service to the bear community, he was named "Bear of the Year" 2008. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Suresha attended the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, 1976-8), where he studied creative writing, and Vista College (Berkeley, Cal., 1989-92), where he studied American Sign Language. For more than two decades, he has worked as a freelance proofreader for trade book publishers such as Shambhala Publications. He was married in October 2004 to Rocco Russo. He is also a licensed Justice of the Peace in Connecticut, an ordained minister, ULC, and a member of the New London Green Party. Nonfiction works include Bears on Bears: Interviews & Discussions; Bi Men: Coming Out (coeditor, with Pete Chvany); Bisexual Perspectives on the Life and Work of Alfred C. Kinsey (editor). His latest book is The Uncommon Sense of the Immortal Mullah Nasruddin: Stories, jests, and donkey tales of the beloved Persian folk hero, published by Lethe Press.
